So this weeks topic is binge worthy shows!!! So I have a lot of experience with this topic because I am the queen of binge watching shows. Most of the time it is how I watch a series. I have the anticipation between seasons. I have to have instant gratification when it comes to shows. I don't like cliffhangers, and Netflix and Hulu have been able to solve that problem for me, at least the shows that are finished. I do have some shows I still watch that are currently still in production and I will name a few of them in this list. So onto my favorites.
Reign: 22 Episodes
It's such a sassy show. I like historical set shows and this one has a Young Adult book feel to it. Although some of the characters are based on real people this is not a historical retelling of Mary the Queen of Scots. There is love and betrayal and lots of twists. I love how it has been done and this is one of the shows I try to keep up with that's still being filmed, that should say something for the quality!
According to Anna Popplewell, who plays lady-in-waiting Lola:
It’s like historical fan-fiction. You’ve got these people we’ve all heard of, and we’re watching them experience relationships and events that never happened. I’ve found that it’s very easy to cling to research and get caught up in the accuracy of things. With Reign, it’s about exploring these wild characters in hypothetical situations. We’ve kind of created a new world; it’s fantasy history.
House of Cards: 38 Episodes
So this is one of my latest binge watches. I never thought I would watch this show. I have always been put off by political shows. I don't know why, because I love the idea of politics, there was even a time in my life I thought I wanted to work in my state capitol building.
This show has given me a whole new perspective of political shows and really has opened my eyes to how I prematurely judge shows. This is a show that keeps you on the edge of your seat from day one and the things that happen most of the time you will see them coming and then boom something else happens.
Dr. Who: 110 Episodes
So I had to add this show. Now I will say there are a lot more episodes than 110 available but I am only putting the recent episodes (from regeneration 9-12). If you really like these episodes I suggest you go to the beginning and start watching. I think for some people the idea of going back to 50's British tv is a little overwhelming. I mean the sheer number of episodes Dr. Who has can be intimidating. BUT! They are all amazing. You get sucked into the lives of not only the Dr. but most of all his companions and their families. I think that anyone no matter their age can watch this show and really enjoy it.
The Office: 160 Episodes
So this is a show I recently watched through completely. I had seen a lot of episodes when I was younger, but I really wanted to be able to enjoy the whole show. I will say it was a lot better this time through. There is something about being able to watch blocks of episodes that makes a series better. I think for me it keeps my mind on that show and I don't have time to forget little details that make it that more funny or meaningful.
Supernatural: 200 Episodes
This is a show I am still slowly working my way through. I am completely caught up except for the last 2 Seasons. I have really enjoyed this show. I am drawn to the dark "supernatural" shows usually and this one is a great one. It has all the feels and laughs. You learn to love characters you really know you should be wanting dead. I think that Supernatural has a great thing going and I can't wait to see what is yet to come.
So lovelies, that's my 5 favorites. Do y'all have any shows you are binge watching at the moment? I can always use more to check out!
